A BEACHSIDE SUNSET ON THE GOLD COAST
By Kim Pilic

Following an Orientation & Mobility (O&M) appointment this afternoon, I couldn't help but stop at the beachside where I enjoyed watching sunset colours paint the sky. This image shows a solitary long cane, standing vertically in the foreground with cane tip embedded in the sand, off-centre, and to the right. The ocean is seen ahead and expanding from left to right of scenery. In the far horizon, towards the centre of image can be seen jagged and irregular formations of distant high-rise apartments, along the coastal edge, appearing miniature in stature. To the left of high-rise apartments can be seen an undulating silhouetted mountain range known as the Gold Coast Hinterland. An evening hue is visible in the sky, with a faded bluish-grey coloured sky seen above, appearing orangish-pink down lower, above the distant horizon land. A golden glow is also visibly seen in the sky as a mid-point to blended colours. The ocean below is not bright in colour, however it appears beautiful along the shallows with reflect colours from the sky clearly seen. A couple of gentle rolling small waves are seen forming in the shallows just prior to breaking. This was another moment in time I felt blessed to witness - slowing down, stopping, and taking in the pleasure of aesthetically beautiful surroundings instead of hurrying home amidst the peak hour traffic.
