DEDICATING AN O&M POST TO CHILDREN
By Kim Pilic

As an O&M Specialist, I’m humbly thankful and blessed of heart to the many children who crossed my professional path over the past 30 years. Often, they provided me with opportunities to harness creative laterality, by applying spontaneous concept development ideas within learning contexts. Each child’s enthusiasm and engagement with O&M related activities enabled concepts to be introduced transitionally, as part of building their knowledge, insights and increased discoveries, concerning the immediate and extended world around them. Piece by piece, and literally step by step, I’ve had the privilege of walking alongside children, from toddlers to post school transition, affirming and celebrating their successes, as they journeyed towards increased confidence and independence.

Today, I continue the journey of providing Children’s O&M services as an Independent Provider. Working with children is a true joy, creating a happy place of fun exploration, learning and discovery for each child. Interestingly, since stepping out as an Independent O&M Specialist, I have reconnected with numerous individual adults, to whom my services were provided during their childhood. It’s such a privilege and a heartfelt phenomenon to reconnect with each and every one of them, furthermore, a true joy and blessing to resume service provision once again. I love the journey and season of our interwoven lives – feeling blessed to reconnect!
