a Lovely image of Elvis, a dog guide lying down out of harness on grass

NOT YOUR AVERAGE FARM DOG
By Kim Pilic

I love this photograph of Elvis the dog guide, who recently visited a farmland winery estate with his handler, Jenny along with Peter during a Forward Steps Mobility small group recreational outing.

Jenny provided Elvis with some out of harness relaxation time, with the opportunity to roll in the countryside grass. This image is priceless! It shows Elvis lying down on his left-hand-side towards the camera, with his eyes closed, bottom teeth visible and long pink tongue hanging outside his mouth towards the ground. He looks very chilled and relaxed as Jenny's hand and arm are seen left of image, extending towards his chest, where he is enjoying a therapeutic rub. His two front legs are slightly elevated, with his right one resting against Jenny's forearm. The background scenery shows a white horizontal railing paddock fence to the left of the scene, extending off into the distance in a linear appearance. Trees are also visible in the background and to the right of the image, with a blue sky seen above, adding to colourful effects. Elvis is one cool doggie who exudes a happy spring in his step and a wagging tail whenever he's on or off duty. And, I also discovered this boy loves an opportunity to sit on a human lap when one is sitting on the ground. He's one special dog with a very special handler - they're a fabulous team!
